Check your game
You need Zerowake GATES from your Steam library, version 1.13.6. Steam doesn't need to be running to play.
You should see: Zerowake GATES installed in your Steam library.
Download the mod
Use the download button above. The zip has everything in it, including the BepInEx mod loader.
You should see: the zip in your Downloads folder.
Windows or my antivirus says the file is unsafe
The mod loads through a file called winhttp.dll, which some antivirus tools flag. Check that the SHA-256 shown above matches your download. If it does, the file is the one we published.
Open the game folder
In Steam, right-click Zerowake GATES, then Manage, then Browse local files.
You should see: a folder with ZerowakeGATES.exe in it.
Extract the zip into that folder
Put everything from the zip next to ZerowakeGATES.exe. If Windows asks to replace files, say yes.
You should see: a BepInEx folder and winhttp.dll beside ZerowakeGATES.exe.
I play on a Steam Deck
In Steam, open the game's Properties and set the launch option WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%, then start the game.
Start the game
The first start takes a minute or two while the mod loader sets itself up.
You should see: the server login screen. Choose Create Account or Log In.
It stays on a white screen
On the very first start the mod loader can get stuck after setting itself up. If nothing changes for a few minutes, close it (Task Manager if it won't close) and start it again. The second start works.
The login screen says it can't reach the server
Open BepInEx\config\zerowake.mod.cfg in Notepad and check the line Address = https://play.zwreborn.com.
Removing the mod
Delete winhttp.dll, doorstop_config.ini, .doorstop_version, changelog.txt, steam_appid.txt, ZerowakeMod-README.txt, BepInEx-LICENSE.txt and the BepInEx and dotnet folders from the game folder. The mod doesn't change the game's own files.
